I was on the Roll Call for our cruise which is always good for more helpful information. Our roll call did not have any group meet & greet arranged, but several pax on the roll call arranged to share tours ahead of time. Quite often I was conflicted about which fun activity to choose. This is our review of the 14 night “Circle the Caribbean” cruise on the Emerald Princess.

The boardwalk leads back to the cruise ship docks. We had been to Newport several times before. We opted to take the free shuttle to the mansion area and walk along the Cliff Walk.

Imaginative shows created in-house feature dazzling stage sets, Broadway classics, popular hits and original numbers performed by some of the largest and most talented casts at sea. Photos, floor plan diagrams, amenities, and furnishings represent typical arrangements and may vary by ship and stateroom. While the mini-suites (323 sq. ft.) don’t offer the same amenities as the suites, you’re not left out in the cold. You still have two TVs, welcome aboard champagne and a bathtub/shower combination. I didn't even notice that although we didn't order any after dinner drinks in the MDR.

The shower is really small with the dreaded shower curtain rather than a glass door. There is a lack of outlets and no USB ports that we found. The only 2 outlets are by the desk, but can only hold on one item if it has a fat plug. We just stayed diligent on swapping out charging our devices through the cruise.
It wasn’t a big issue because we had the Plus package and never reached our drink limit. If we were paying as we went, we would have had to go to guest services to have the charges removed. The outside cabins on the Emerald Princess are almost identical to the inside cabins in style and design.

And don’t forget, there is always a server nearby to bring you a refreshing cocktail or favorite beverage. In the cruise terminal as you exit the ship there are various shops. There is also an informational center with locals handing out maps. The staff will point out various places of interest and even draw a walking tour map if you ask. We decided to visit the Public Gardens and the Citadel. The wait lines to enter the dining rooms were very manageable after the first night.

The town of bar Harbor requires large cruise ships to be tucked behind an island, so they are not visible from the town. Princess should have utilized additional tenders or local providers during the peak morning rush. Facebook groups about cruise ships often mention problems with the noise from pool decks.
Of the 1,557 cabins, over half (881) have balconies. If budget allows, go for one of the 207 suites, from 461 to 687 sq. It let up raining so we went back out with an umbrella to browse the shops and mail a postcard at the post office there. It was pretty deserted out here and even the mermaid looked lonely in the gloom.
While at home we had no problem downloading the Princess app, but it worked a little wonky with check in not wanting to accept my passport due to middle name which was also on my res. I tried both by typing it in and scanning it with no success. Discussing it here on CC before calling Princess Customer Service who assured me in this case, I could enter it without the middle name (it was fine at check in).
The serving dishes/pans of food may look small, but they can swap them out quickly to ensure that you have fresh hot, food. This is a bucket list item but, one our husbands weren't interested in so my bestie and I are taking our first cruise together. I would like to add (too late for this season), that there was an excellent lobster roll container in the village. Recommendation came from helpful folks inside the terminal. Sorry photo since I hungrily devoured first half. We were on the Emerald this past July for a Hawaii cruise, one of our favorite Princess ships.
We had a great view of the ocean and of the ports we visited. We were fortunate to have wonderful weather to enjoy our time sitting on the balcony, with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. I never expected to be impressed with how remarkably comfortable the bed was, and this may have been one of the improvements Princess made during the pause in cruising. Princess offers extra amenities and perks for suites than other premium cruise lines. There’s a complimentary mini-bar set-up, free laundry and a private lounge, to name a few.
We chose our check in times about 45 days prior to the cruise when it became available. In regards to the APP once aboard, I found it wasn’t as easy to navigate compared to other cruise lines. Quite often, I would get kicked off and have to sign in again on my phone, which was easy once I realized this. The daily schedule was laborious to scroll through, so I am so glad they still provide the paper copy of the Princess Patter which is now renamed the Princess Event Listings. With a rich wood décor and a theater-style kitchen, it’s no wonder Crown Grill was named among the “Best Cruise Ship Steakhouses” by USA TODAY.
The desk/vanity is a large size with lots of storage and a blow dryer. They offer quite a variety of stations including TV shows (the Love Boat!), movies, ship info, account info and some of the ship entertainment replayed. Since we were in an inside cabin we would use the live ship webcam to check weather conditions and if we had arrived in port.
