I wish they would let suite customers eat in the speciality Restaurants all the time. It would make the suite experience so much more exclusive. Everybody wears masks while moving, but as soon as you sit down, no masks. 1Activities, dining and entertainment options vary by ship and are subject to change.
Front Row Seat for Beautiful Scenery
We were at a table of 6 with two very nice couples and enjoyed dining with them. However, the meal took over two hours which is a bit too long for us. The MDR crew was working very hard, and embarkation day can be a challenge for all cruise lines. We enjoyed Greek Salad, Shrimp Cocktail, Mahi-Mahi, Cajun Chicken, and my favorite Crème Brule. Deck 15 is the place to be on sunny days – it’s where the family pools and most casual free eateries can be found. Those seeking some peace and quiet can either go down to Deck 14 to the more secluded Terrace Pool, or head to the adult-only Sanctuary on Deck 17.

We booked the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port on 10th Avenue for a discounted rate through ValueTrips. They provide an airport shuttle for $5 per room (on your bill), and a shuttle to the port for $9pp payable to the driver (reserve the day before with the hotel front desk). The hotel is a nice, clean, average property. There are also tables outside in front if you want to enjoy the Florida warmth while eating breakfast. The front desk staff is great - friendly and professional.

We had an amazingly great ten days, and look forward to many more cruises in the future. Bottom lineThis isn’t the original Love Boat, but a cruise aboard the Emerald Princess has something that almost everyone would love. Onboard activities span the range from poolside fun and games to art history and computer classes. There’s a wedding chapel with a webcam so friends and family back home can watch the ceremony. Kids even have special dinners (with counselors) while teens can attend their own formal night event. Late night group sitting is available for ages 3-12 from 10pm to 1am at $5/hour per child.
A Private Breakfast with a View
In addition, average cruise prices are updated nightly. 40,000 people receive my best cruise tips, insights and guides every week. You can join them for free by clicking here. The Mini Suites on Emerald Princess are the middle ground between a Balcony stateroom and a full-size suite. Although we didn’t stay in a Mini-Suite Cabin, I was lucky enough to stay in one during a Press Trip on the Sky Princess. The majority of cabins are around 162 sq feet, but the wheelchair-friendly inside cabins are far more spacious.
Included with your cruise fare:
An upgrade was assigned but we were not contacted. We stopped by on the way to dinner and lo and behold we get balcony cabin. Got a free upgrade from interior cabin to balcony, though it took a day+ to happen. With signature beverages, light meals, and al fresco massages, Serenity Stewards attend to your every need, whether it’s to be on hand to provide chilled face towels or Evian water atomizers.
Additional details
Taking the panoramic elevators located midship are a great way of getting a feel of all the things the Emerald has to offer. The main dining room food was good to very good. The lobster on the second formal night was the best we have had on a cruise.
Club Class Mini Suites
Perfect for families, couples and solo travelers who want a premium cruise experience and the bells and whistles found only on super-sized ships. Buffet Lunch in the World Fresh Market had some highlights of Cuban Sandwiches, British Fish & Chips w/smashed peas (forgot photos of these). Later enjoyed a hot tub soak, some shade chilling, snack of Tacos & Soft Serve Ice Cream. Indoors for the “Cracking the Da Vinci Code” which I thought was a game show, but turned out to be an interesting art seminar. PSA - While in the Explorers Lounge I spied a lady with her shoes up on an upholstered chair.
With this new offering, you can customize every aspect of mealtime. Make reservations for the main dining room or specialty restaurants at your preferred time each day. Fit in a formal dinner before a show, or order food and drinks to your poolside perch with OceanNow®. Our balcony stateroom on the Riviera (14th) deck was ideal for us.
We were so glad we had headed out early and got our snorkeling in before the rain. We have done the QC to NY cruise twice and both times the ship was not able to get into Bar Harbor. We also have done the Greenland cruise out of Red Hook a couple of years ago. In three weeks we are boarding the Emerald at Red Hook and ending at PE with a tour of several Caribbean islands so nice to hear about your time on the Emerald. Miscellaneous- The internet on the ship was adequate.
We saw later on the app that all our Botticelli reservations had been changed to Da Vinci with no notification. So be sure to check your dining res while onboard. We dined in both DaVinci and Michaelangeo MDRs numerous times all cruise which are very similar.
After the Citadel we walked along the waterfront boardwalk. There are many shops and restaurants along the boardwalk. We ordered a cinnamon/sugar fried dough "Beaver Tail" and sat at the end of a pier to enjoy the water views.
The vocal performances did however have star quality and conveyed the feeling of watching of a Broadway-style show. Next, we walked to the Citadel which was nearby. We walked up a very large hill and paid our admission and toured the inside of the fort. Several small group demonstrations were conducted by the Citadel staff.
The average size is slightly bigger, at 179 sq ft. They can also sleep up to four people, with some cabins having pull-down/Pullman beds. Hot music and cool cocktails set to a DJ spinning popular club tunes is the ideal setting for a night of dancing.
We got an open air taxi truck with 6 people they were taking to Coki Beach first, before dropping us off at Secret Harbor for $15 per person one way. It’s a very pretty, quaint beach by a resort with a beach bar and a dive shop on the end that rents snorkel gear. They also rent beach chairs which were $10 per chair, $10 umbrella, and $5 for the guy that sets them up. It was becoming partly cloudy at this point, so we donned our snorkel gear and headed in. I had a new waterproof go-pro camera that I was anxious to try.
